SPEED BAG GATHERINGS have grown in size, and popularity as our speed bag family expands! From 2010 to 2024 we had ONE yearly gathing at Real Gym, Keyport New Jersey. That era ended with the closing of the Real Gymm location. WE all a HUGE debt of gratitude to Donny Blanks and the entire Real Gymm family that sponsored the event for 14 years. That is where “The ART of the Bag” truly came to life.
2025 marked the beginning of new year and new beginning, as our speed bag community demanded growth and expansion to TWO Speed Bag Gatherings. The first in July at Enforcer Fitness Gym, in Nutley New Jersey … AND a new, second gathering was initiated in September at R3 Boxing in San Diego CA. Both Gatherings were well attended and we were hopeful the support for Speed Bag events on two coasts would continue! This takes local sponsors, and baggers, to step and organize the events.
And we are Happy to annouce, that in 2026 we will again haveTWO Speed Bag Gatherings, with the first on July 17-19 at Lowell Boxing Gym in Tyngsboro, ma, and a Second Gathering returns to R3 Boxing gym in San Diego, Californian in September Friday September 18th and 19th.
And the first Speed Bag Gathering at Lowell Boxing Club will feature the VERY first sponsored contest to find the “fastest bagger to 300!” Don’t be fooled… throwing 300 punches, non-stop with only one rebound is NO easy task, with flame-outs at 20 to 25 seconds .. and you’re still not done.

Sports Illustrated visit to Speedbagcentral – June 6, 7, 8th 2022
The senior podcast director Dan Bloom and Greg Bishop senior writer for Sports Illustrated came to Speedbagcentral to visit Alan Kahn, author of the Speed Bag Bible to talk about the amazing past, present and hopeful future of the Speed Bag. The emerging worldwide phenomenon of Bible Style Bagging, Punch Drumming and the unique rehabilitation potential or it’s “beat” has attracted their attention. This is an exciting opportunity for the speed bag community as well as the introduction of “speed bagging” to a whole new audience!

January 2024 update: Sad news most likely.. In December 2022 – Corporate S.I. eliminated it’s audio and “podcasting” format and Dan Bloom and crew were let go. Recently (November 17th) The Amazing, Blazing “Speedbagskunk” (Zach Ruffo) lite up the performance of the Cornerstone AZ Church concert as a featured Punch Drummer on, not one, but TWO speed bags. Is this Cool or What!!

Speed Bag Gathering in Reno Nevada… March 2015
From March 11th to March 14th 2015, Joel Giandalia, sponsored four nationally recognized speed bag masters to hold several private and community speed bag seminars. A dedicated speed bagger himself, he wanted to bring the Best to Reno. The crew did several TV interviews as well as several public teaching seminars.

One of the training sessions was filmed for a segment of “Plush Life”, a local interest TV Show. Portions of this video have been posted independly on various social media, making it go “viral” several times.
The highlight of the week was an afternoon demonstrating and teaching the Boys and Girls Clubs or Reno.
